I did not know Barbara well. But she was to my daughters, Daria and Kyra, related to her through their mother Susan Merritt (formerly Fingles), an example of what a woman of spirit and brains could accomplish in life. She continues to have, even in her passing, a profound effect on their lives. She certainly was a firecracker who will always be fondly remembered by me.G
I wasn't able to spend much time with Barbara, but when I did I felt her unconditional love, caring, support and concern. We were family and she made us know how important that was. I will miss her spirit, joie-de-vivre, and many tales of travels and friends.
Barbara was and still is to me a wonderful light along this journey of life. She resonated such love and care for all those she became friends with. She and Bob had many good friends, she was a great friend and 2nd cousin to me. Both Barbara and Bob were a team and together demonstrated how full and fulfilling life can be. I learned so much from Barbara about the spunk and spirit of women in our family and of the endearing love one can send out to humanity one step at a time.
I miss her dearly and know that she led a most fulfilling life each and everyday. It feels this is a time to celebrate her life. Like tiny rain droplets she touched many people in a most wonderful way.
Dear Bob and children - What wonderful memories I have of Barbara and the many gay times we shared on the beach at Bethany! My thoughts are with you all. With love ,Jeri
The world and my life are better because of Barbara. I still feel her love and will never let her go.
What a great lady! While I worked with Bob Gale at AGB in the mid-1970s, we were fortunate to know Barbara. She was the kind of person that you never forget. Our thoughts are with Bob and the family.
Barbara, I will miss your wonderful charm, a great smile and a zest for life! Kyoko
So many wonderful memories, such a rich life. A lifelong treasure for us was the wonderful relationship with South Africa that Bob and Barbara shared with us, Life changing and inspiring.
We love you Barbara...
I only met Barbara a couple times but the time that I spent with her was always filled with good food, great laughs and fascinating stories. You will be greatly missed. But I know your memories and adventures will be carried on for years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.
