Audrey Jane (Bryan) Palmer

Audrey Jane (Bryan) Palmer, age 78 of Lewes and Millsboro, DE passed away at home on Sunday, January 15 after a long fight with cancer. Mrs. Palmer was born February 14, 1927 in Elkton, MD daughter of the late Weldon and Ida (Richards) Bryan.
Audrey graduated from Lewes High School in 1945. She married James Palmer and was a loving mother and wife. In 1967, she and her husband opened a grocery store, "Palmer's Market" on Long Neck Road. In 1970, she opened Long Neck Dispensaries. In 1972 she started Palmer's Shopping Center on Long Neck Road, retiring in 2002 due to declining health.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Long Neck Business Association for 20 years. In 2004, she received the Founder's Award from the Long Neck Business Association for her many years of support and dedication to the association and community. In addition, she was a member of the Am Vet's Post #2 (Long Neck) Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James L. Palmer (1989) and by her sister, Lorraine Zullo (1969). She is survived by two daughters, Jane Palmer Miller and her husband James of Millsboro and Tamara L. Burton of Long Neck, DE; four grandchildren, Amanda J. Ford and her husband Robert of Long Neck, Courtney L. Ledsome and her husband Chris of Long Neck, Sarah J. Burton of Long Neck, and Luke Burton of Treasure Island, FL; and four great-grandchildren, Jarrett Ford, Drew Ledsome, Grayson Ledsome and Reed Ford, all of Long Neck, DE.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 19, 11 AM at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. Fourth Street, Lewes. Interment will follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Jack Cohen will be officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 18, 6-8 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.
