Arthur Joseph Curley's Obituary
Arthur Joseph Curley Jr., age 90, of Lewes, DE went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 21, 2013. He was born on May 17, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Arthur J. Sr. and Sarah (Prince) Curley.
Mr. Curley graduated from Dover High School, Dover, DE and went on to receive his Associates Degree from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. He began his broadcasting career in Fayetteville, NC but was most well known for his big band radio broadcasts over the Delmarva Peninsula. Art delighted locals for many years with his “Art Curley Trio” where he played clarinet and sax. He enjoyed broadcasting for WILM, WPEN WTOP and WGMD where he retired. His many hobbies included volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Beebe Medical Center and the Readers Theater of Georgetown, DE.
Mr. Curley is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years , Nancy Keen Curley; a step-son, Patrick Curley and wife Tami of Reno, NV; three daughters, Cindi Woolard and husband John of Raleigh, NC, Claudia VanHook and husband David of Wake Forest, NC, and Mary Brannan and husband Russell of New London, PA; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may visit one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the adjoining churchyard.
