Arthur Abrams' Obituary
Arthur M. Abrams, Sr., age 80, of Smyrna, DE, died Sunday, February 4, 2007, at his residence in Smyrna. Mr. Abrams was born in Wilmington, DE, son of the late Rufus Melvin Abrams and Mary Augusta (Porter) Abrams. He had formerly lived in Newark, DE, moved to Lewes, DE in 1995, and then relocated to Smyrna, DE in 2004. Mr. Abrams had served as the Chief Custodian of the Christina School District for 25 years. He enjoyed gardening, WWF wrestling, antique cars and country music. He cherished his wife Evelyn and enjoyed nothing more than being with her. He took great delight in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Evelyn L. (Wright) Abrams;
Five Daughters: Linda Jean Allen of New Castle, DE; Jacquelyn Williams of Smyrna, De;
Terri Sue Miller of Mary Del, MD; Debra Marie Honacker of Smyrna, Del. & Dawn Lynnette Sullivan of Manchester, N.H;
Two Sons, Arthur Melvin Abrams, Jr. of New Castle, DE and Mark Allen Abrams of Newark, DE; Five Sisters,
Jean Spry of Newark, DE; Dolores Urillo of Newark, DE; Anna Schrader of Townsend, DE;
Ruth Bourden of Wilmington, DE; & Mary Stallard of Northeast, MD;
Two Brothers: Paul Abrams of Millsboro, DE and William Abrams of Newark, DE; 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Mr. Abrams was predeceased by 2 daughters: Donna Lee Abrams and Sue Abrams, and a beloved grandson Aaron Abrams in 2004.
Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 8, 2007 with Pastor Mike Haley officiating, where friends may call at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may also call on Wednesday February 7, 2007 from 7 to 9 P.M. at the Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce Street, Smyrna, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Delaware Hospice, Kent County Chapter, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19903.
Funeral services are being conducted by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.
