Arlie (Curt) Pennington
On September 23, Arlie (Curt) Pennington, of Lewes, Delaware born in Beckley, West Virginia, on January 11, 1932, a son of the late Ovella and Curtis Pennington, died at home, after a long and courageous batter with emphysema. Predeceased by six siblings, including his brother Clem, on September 14, 2009, and is survived by his sister, Eunice (Pennington) Lovell of Millersville, Maryland.
Also survived by his loving wife Valerie (Val) Pennington (nee Lamana). Curt, as he liked to be called, was beloved Dad to Linda DiLeonardi of Jacksonville, FL, the late Victor J. Concordia of Orlando, Florida, Robin Terrell of Mt. Pilot, NC, Dr. Tina Wray of Bristol, RI, and Tracy Kelley of Rehoboth Beach, DE. He was a devoted grandfather to John, Melissa, and Angela Bischoff and Dena Hartman of Jacksonville, FL, Christopher Fay of Baltimore, MD, Robert, Anne, and John Wray of Bristol, RI, and Lauren and Timothy Kelley of Rehoboth Beach and the late Jamie Fay and Brian Terrell of Pasadena, MD. Curt is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his beloved Chihuahuas, Tippy, Amber, and Buttercup.
A decorated veteran, Curt proudly served his country for twelve years in the Air Force as a Technical Sargent, and was stationed in Japan and England during the Korean War. He received many awards and medals. He worked for Giant Construction Company as a superintendent and was instrumental in the building of the Rehoboth Beach Giant Food Store, before retiring due to illness. He was a talented and expert carpenter. As per his wishes, arrangements and services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
