Antonio Carannante's Obituary
Antonio (Tony) Carannante, age 65 of Seaford, DE, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Monte di Procida, Italy on Saturday, June 7, 1952, son of Rosa Alborino and the late Luigi Carannante.
Tony came to America in 1979. He opened his first Italian restaurant (Ciao Pizza) in Newark, DE in 1989. Tony moved to Sussex County thereafter, and opened "Sal's", with his brother, in 1996. In 1997, he changed the name of the restaurant to "Tony's Pizza and Pasta", and it is still serving the town of Bridgeville today. Tony loved working in the family business and did so up until recently. Above all, Tony was a family man. He was a caring and devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Rosa (Scamardella) Carannante; his mother, Rosa Alborino; his son, Antimo Carannante and his wife Dawn; his daughters: Rose Carannante and her husband Salvatore, and Lisa Carannante; his grandchildren: Dominic, Angelo, Antonio, Daniel, Alex and another grandson, Antonio, to be arriving soon; his brothers and sister; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
A Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street; Bridgeville, DE. Burial will take place at a later date in Italy.
