Antoinette L. Povilaitis' Obituary
Antoinette "Mary" L. Povilaitis, age 78, of Lewes, DE passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Harbor Healthcare & Rehab Center. She was born on Sunday, October 17, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late John M. and Vincentia M. (Kliamas) Povilaitis.
Ms. Povilaitis started her career as a Sister of Christian Charity for 25 years. She also was a teacher at various schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Missouri for over 30 years. She would spend her last years of her career as a chaplain at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, retiring after 10 years.
Over her life, Ms. Povilaitis spent countless hours in the pursuit of knowledge. She was a self-taught pianist who enjoyed playing the organ and piano for her church. She spent her life dedicated to serving others, volunteering her time and talents. Ms. Povilaitis was a loving sister, a special aunt and a dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Ms. Povilaitis is survived by her two sisters: Dolores Povilaitis of Berwyn, PA and Alice Buchholz of Lewes, DE; as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, October 06, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Ms. Povilaitis' memory to the Cape Henlopen Food Basket, P.O. Box 168, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
