Anthony George Williams' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Anthony George Williams
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony George Williams, aged 71, who peacefully departed this life on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at his home. Affectionately known as Tony to family and friends (and as PopPop to his grandchildren), he was the beloved son of the late Leila Bernard. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Holmes and Winston Holmes. Born on December 18, 1953, in Albert Town, Trelawny, Jamaica, W.I., he spent his formative years in England until age 16. He then moved to Brooklyn, New York and attended Fordham University where he played football and graduated with his bachelors degree in Political Science.
Anthony was a devoted, loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sheree Goddard-Williams. Together Tony and Sheree shared 50 years of love, friendship, and marriage. Anthony is also survived by his daughters Viveca Williams-Glover (Charles-husband) and Martina Williams Wilson (Cecil III-husband) and grandchildren: Ava-Sheree Wilson age 12, Asha Rose Wilson age 11, Cecil Wilson IV age 9, Alorabelle Wilson age 7, and CharLeigh Glover age 5. Anthony is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Kamile Holmes, Gary Holmes, Cassandra Holmes, and Tony Holmes; and the families of Goddard, Williams, Wilmoth, Gibbs and Manley.
Anthony had a distinguished career as a sales representative in the computer industry, where his dedication and expertise earned him the respect of many over the years. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his work, as well as his warm and charismatic personality.
Anthony was an athlete and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed playing rugby, soccer, football (American), and basketball. He was a member of the Fordham University Football Team while undergrad. He also coached his daughters' National AAU teams and girls high school basketball teams. On evenings he enjoyed watching Manchester United Soccer, New York Giants Football, Baltimore Ravens Football, New York Knicks Basketball, and South Carolina Women's Basketball.
Though he is no longer with us, Anthony's memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
A celebration of his life will be held on March 15, 2025, at 12pm at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 118 Chadwick Road, Teaneck, New Jersey 07666.
