Anthony Delacamera was a great person to work with. He started at South Coastal as an operator in 2001, and boy were we glad when he joined us, especially as we got to know him. Anthony was one of the most conscientious people I have ever worked with. He was compassionate and kind, and would go out of his way to help out. He was talented and smart, and I always had the highest respect for Anthony.
Over the years I have been with the County, I have noticed that when there is down time (very brief moments, for sure!), County employees have a tendency to talk, and sometimes about each other. I think it is very telling that in all these years, I have never heard a bad word mentioned about Anthony. That’s the kind of person he was; he pulled his own weight and more, and did not rub people the wrong way.
Anthony was quiet and unassuming, yet had a great sense of humor. He loved his sports teams, and I enjoyed discussing sports with him, especially since the Redskins, my team, and the Eagles, his team, had a good rivalry going. On a personal note, he always showed a genuine interest in my children, and I could tell that his family meant the world to him.
Anthony left South Coastal in 2005 to manage Inland Bays, and even though I knew the move was good for him, I was really sorry to see him go, since I could no longer work with him on a daily basis. I was truly sad to hear of his passing.
