Annette Ann Louise Wilberg's Obituary
Annette “Ann” L. Wilberg of Lewes, DE passed away on May 2, 2010 at Harbor Healthcare & Rehab Center, Lewes, DE. She was born November 30, 1918 in Tartu, Estonia, where she attended Tartu University and obtained a degree in Liberal Arts. Soon after graduation she married. In December 1949, following the former USSR takeover of the Estonia Republic, Dr. & Mrs. Wilberg immigrated to the United States and settled in Lewes.
Ann was a passionate gardener with many artistic talents which she incorporated throughout her home. She spent her evenings creating works of crewel, needlework, needlepoint, knitting, crochet, cross stitch, and oil painting. She enjoyed visiting with friends, traveling, and reading.
Ann was a member of the Lewes Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the Delaware Medical Society’s Women’s Auxiliary where she served a term as chairman, a former member of the Beebe Hospital Women’s Volunteer Association, and a former member of the Zwaanendael Club. In the 1960’s, she was a member of the Lewes School PTA and Chairperson of the Lewes PTA Health Association; she also volunteered as a chaperone and classroom aide for many of the teachers. More recently, she joined the Pioneer Club in Georgetown where club members with severe vision loss meet weekly to socialize and refurbish donated eyeglasses for the Lions Club. The Lions Club distributes the glasses to those in need.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harald M. Wilberg, M.D. She is survived by her daughter Kadi A. Wilberg of Lewes, with whom she had lived for many years and her granddaughter, Kristin A. Sing of Bozeman, MT where she is attending college. She is deeply missed for her sense of humor and her gift of being both a parent and a friend.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010, 2:00 PM, at the Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Friends of the Library for the Blind, 121 Duke of York Street, Dover, DE 19901.
