Anne Theresa Benton's Obituary
Anne Theresa Benton, age 66, of Milton, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 10, 2022. She was born on December 3, 1956, born in Staten Island, New York, to the late George A. and Doreen M. (DePalma) Benton.
She grew up in the Bronx before moving to New Jersey at age 20. Attending night school, she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1994 from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, NJ, with a degree in Business Management. She held several administrative and managerial positions throughout her career before retiring in 2016 from Pfizer in Peapack, NJ, with 16 years of service.
In 2006, she married Charles Gorgas, settling in Stewartsville, New Jersey, prior to their relocating in 2017 to Milton, Delaware. Annie, as she was best known, enjoyed hobby farming, especially during spring lambing season, competitive fishing with her husband and brother, boating, listening to music, and dancing. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She wanted to thank those who were with her in life for their love and support.
Anne is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Gorgas; sister, Doreen Burger (Patrick); brother, James Benton (Lisa); five nephews: Patrick Burger, Sean Burger (Francesca), Kevin Burger (Rachel), Matthew Burger, and Stephen Benton; three nieces: Christiana Benton, Sarah (Benton) Sharpe (David), and Masha Burger; three grandnephews: Ethan Sharpe, Ezekiel Sharpe, and Kieran Burger; best girlfriend, Mary Jo Gilligan; Goddaughter, Katrina Vance; step-daughter, April (Gorgas) Sabol (Brian) and step-grandchildren Malena, Nicholas, and Jacob Sabol. She was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Benton. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM.
