Anne's Obituary
Anne-Louise Bennett, or Charlie to her close friends, was surrounded by loved ones when she passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012.
After graduating as Salutatorian from Rehoboth High School in 1968, Charlie’s journey took her around the world where her sense of adventure, intelligence, curiosity, quest for knowledge, joie de vivre, and unique perspective on life led to many exciting and wonderful experiences.
Charlie was preceded in death by her beloved Mother, Mary Jane Engel, and survived by her loving Father and his wife, Bob and Sammie Engel. Her surviving family includes her brother and his wife, Tom and Kathy Engel, as well as their children and grandchildren; her sister and her husband, Eileen and George Whitesell, and her sister Bobbi Engel.
Her absence will create a void felt by many. Family gatherings will not be the same without her quirky commentary and observations. Her loyalty and love for her Father and her care and devotion to her precious cat companion Waldo will be sorely missed. The support, love, and friendship she gave to her family and friends were unsurpassed as Charlie was a unique and extraordinary person and a free spirit to the end.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.
To honor Charlie’s sensibilities and beliefs, donations can be made in her name to the Georgetown SPCA, 22918 DuPont Boulevard, Georgetown, DE 19947 or to her favorite local charity, the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk Buddy Walk, www.boardwalkbuddywalk.com
