Mrs. Howett grew up in Wilmington, DE, the second of ten children, helping to raise her younger siblings and contributing to the running of the household when her brothers were away at war. In 1951, she would marry the love of her life, Norman (Norm) and they would start their beautiful family.
Mrs. Howett worked in the Forest Oak Elementary School cafeteria for many years. During that time, the family would spend their summers at their cottage at Indian River Inlet. Mrs. Howett was an accomplished baker, baking cakes for all her family and friend’s weddings and birthdays. She enjoyed bowling and her many arts and crafts projects. She loved traveling, especially to collect shells on Sanibel Island and her annual trip to Disney World with her husband. More than anything, Mrs. Howett cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always had a goal in life: “live long enough to see her next great grandchild born.” Mrs. Howett had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howett was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Norman; her four brothers: Hugh, Edward, James and Walter Morris; and her one sister, Louise Miller.
