Anna Elizabeth Misener's Obituary
Anna Elizabeth Misener, Nee: Moore
Administrative Assistant and REALTOR
Anna Misener of Lewes, DE, Age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Georgetown, DE, on February 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Rufus B. and Edith (Fletcher) Moore.
She attended Georgetown High School graduating in 1951, serving as Class Treasurer for three years. She still served in that capacity in 2021 as they celebrated their 70th Reunion, and she was often described as the glue that kept the class together. Her classmates were important to her.
Anna began her secretarial career at John W. Rollins & Associates while she was still in school and became employed full time with them upon graduation. While working there she met Allen “Buz” Misener, and they were married February 4, 1956. A few years after their son was born, she continued her secretarial position at an electronics firm with offices in Lewes and later in Georgetown, DE. In October 1962, she continued her career at Anderson-Stokes, Inc. (now Long & Foster) where she served as Corporate Secretary. In 1979 she became a licensed Real Estate Agent, retiring at the end of 1999.
When she moved to Rehoboth Beach, Anna became an active member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church where she served in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher for many years, a few years as Clerk of the Vestry and one term as a member of the Vestry. She was a member of St. Boniface Chapter of ECW where she served a term as its chairperson, and for several years she was chairperson of the annual Christmas Shop Invitation committee. She also volunteered at the Cape Henlopen Food Basket. Above all else, the time spent with her beloved family and many friends was what she cherished the most. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Buz, in 1995; her sister Edna Moore Edelenbos; her brother Francis H. Moore; her mother-in-law, Mildred Fryling Misener, and her sister-in-law, Julia Wilson Moore. She is survived by her loving son; Keith Allen Misener (Lynn); grandson, Brian Keith Misener (Andrea); granddaughter, Erica Lynn Misener (Scott Sylvester); and her Great-Grandson, Gavin Emmerick Misener. Other survivors include her brother-in-law, Albert “Dutch” Edelenbos, nephews, Albert Edelenbos (Bonnie) and their family, Edward Edelenbos (Cori Rivers) and their family, niece Wilma Edelenbos and her children Michael David and Anna Elizabeth Ostendorf, and her very close friend Eileen Larkin.
The family would like to thank Delaware Hospice, Faith Bell, Adrianna Harris and many friends for their help and support they offered during these difficult times. Your kindness has been deeply appreciated.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM at All Saint’s Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM.
