Ann R. (Ritchie) Kellner's Obituary
Ann R. (Ritchie) Kellner, age 91, passed peacefully away at her home in Lewes, Delaware, on Monday, January 11, 2016. She was born on June 30, 1924 in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of the late George Wilbur and Mary Catherine (Fredricks) Douglas.
Mrs. Kellner was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was admitted to the DAR through her family’s direct relation to Mary Ball, the Mother Of George Washington.
For many years, Mrs. Kellner resided in the Washington, D.C. and Laurel, MD areas. She was avid volunteer at the Greater Laurel Beltsville Hospital, where she assisted in admissions, The Gift Shop and the Maryland Hospice Program.
Mrs. Kellner and her Husband, Donald Kellner, retired to Lewes, Delaware, in 1998. Here she became an active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church where she participated in numerous Church related activities. One of her greatest joys was singing with a local Gospel Choir that performed at a variety of local Churches, Senior Centers and Nursing Homes. She truly lived to give to others.
She became known by many as “Everyone's Mom and Grand-mom”. She shared her unconditional love with all whom she touched.
Mrs. Kellner is survived by her son, John E. Ritchie, Jr. and his wife Linda of Lewes, DE; two grandchildren: John Patrick Ritchie and his wife Lisa and Tracie Y. Vailiant and her husband Kevin; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Caitlin.
