Ann D. Knobelspiesse's Obituary
Ann D. Knobelspiesse passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Harbor Healthcare & Rehab Center, Lewes, DE. She was born April 3, 1915 in Girardville, PA, daughter of the late Adam and Rose (Targowanski) Nojunas.
Mrs. Knobelspiesse and her husband moved to Rehoboth Beach in the mid 1950’s. She was a long standing member of St. Edmond’s Catholic Church and the Village Improvement Association, of Rehoboth Beach. She was a proud 60 year member of the Beebe Medical Center Auxiliary, Lewes, DE, and had been an early auxiliary officer of Stockley Center, Georgetown, DE. She also managed the Sand Piper Motel, as well as the Shirl Ann Motel, Rehoboth Beach, DE. She was married to the late Ernest Knobelspiesse and together they owned and operated the Madison House Restaurant and Horseshoe Point Farm Lodge, North East, MD. When Ann was not working or volunteering, she loved playing bridge and poker.
Mrs. Knobelspiesse was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Ernest Knobelspiesse (1980) and her granddaughter, Alison Knobelspiesse Hughes. She is survived by two sons: Ernest A. Knobelspiesse and wife Mary of Chocowinity, NC, and David S. Knobelspiesse of Rehoboth Beach; two grandsons: Kirk D. Knobelspiesse and wife Barbara of New York, NY, and Eric R. Knobelspiesse and wife Deanna of Eugene, OR; two great-grandsons: Nathan and Connor Knobelspiesse of Eugene, OR; brother Michael Nojunas of North East, MD; two sisters: Eleanor Ruf of Annapolis, MD, and Mildred Danish of Wilmington, DE; and good friends: Jack Fitzpatrick of Lewes, DE, and Nancy Alexander of Rehoboth Beach, DE.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who offered such loving care to Mother in her final days especially Dr. John Spieker, Mary Clemens, Bonnie Ulman, Theresa Walsh, and Janice Brittingham.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Beebe Medical Foundation, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
