Andrew Ormond's Obituary
Ormond L. "Bud" Andrew, Jr. age 64, died of a heart attack on Wednesday October 12, 2005 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. He resided at Paynter's Mill in Milton, DE. Mr. Andrew was born and raised in Denton, MD and graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, MD where he received the George Washington Medal in 1963. Mr. Andrew also attended the Peabody Institute of Music at Johns Hopkins University and later received a Masters Degree in Music from the University of Maryland at College Park.
Professionally, Mr. Andrew served as the Director of Admissions for Washington College and as Assistant Director of Admissions for the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He was also the Assistant Manager of the New Devon Inn in Lewes, DE, and had held various positions in the cruise travel industry. He retired in the mid 1990's. Mr. Andrew was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, as well as the American Guild of Organists of Southern Delaware.
Mr. Andrew moved to Lewes in 1988 and had recently begun spending the winter months in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. he is survived by his partner of 30 years, Blair Crownover. Other surviving relatives include his cousins, Margaret Anne Schockley, her children and grandchildren; Paul Dukes and his children and grandchildren; and cousins Doris Brown and Sharon Cortese.
Services will be held on Monday October 24th, 2005 at 11:00 A.M.at St. George's Chapel near Lewes, DE located on Beaver Dam Road (Delaware Rt. 23), 5.5. miles from Five Points.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Washington College, Chestertown, MD and to the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, D.C.
