Amy Powers Ballou's Obituary
Amy Powers Ballou was born on the 4th of July 1959, in Hollis, NH. Amy’s parents were Frank and Nancy Ballou; she was the youngest of six siblings, Sandra, Susan, Sarah, Jennifer, and Steven. Amy passed away after an unexpected illness on October 25, 2024.
Amy’s first love was the ocean, and after graduating from high school, she moved to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, where she lived for eight years. Eventually, the desire to do more for others, she became a Registered Nurse through the Community College system of New Hampshire while working as a caretaker for an elderly person.
Amy, always a born traveler, signed up with a Travel Nurse Program, and was assigned ninety-day assignments in several cities. She found the city she loved the most was San Diego, where our uncle, Donald Ballou, lived, and the two became lifelong ‘pals.’ Amy returned to Boston, applied, and was accepted to the nursing practitioner program at Northeastern University while working in local hospitals. With a degree in hand, Amy moved to Cape Cod, where she worked as a nurse practitioner with a mental health center treating children, until she transitioned to Florida to be with her partner, Eric. After they both retired from nursing in the Tampa area, they moved to Delaware with their beloved dog, Lucy. Of the many things that Amy will be missed for, the greatest will be the gift of her special laugh.
