Alton L. Robinson's Obituary
Alton Lloyd Robinson, age 87, of Clearwater, FL passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL. He was born in Bethel, DE on October 28, 1928, son of the late Alfred Lee and Elsie Robinson.
During World War II, Mr. Robinson worked on various tugboats. At the age of 16, he started working for DuPont Company from which he retired after 40 dedicated years.
Mr. Robinson enjoyed playing cards, Solitaire, Aggravation and Soduku. In his younger days, he enjoyed boating and camping with family and friends. He adored his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Poppy." Throughout his life, he was an honest man whose words were his bond and anyone could always count on him. Mr. Robinson will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and a dear friend by all who knew him.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife of 66 years of marriage, Ruth Messick Robinson; a daughter, Linda Steinbiss; a son, Michael Robinson and his wife, Lisa; seven grandchildren: Kathi Christiano and her husband, Todd; Luther Steinbiss, Michael Christopher Robinson, Trevor Robinson, Chelsea Ballou and her husband, Nate; Isabella Robinson, Morgan Robinson; and his three great-grandchildren: Alexa and Anna Christiano and Olivia Ballou. Mr. Robinson will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews in Delaware to whom he was the family patriarch especially those of the Short Heritage in the Georgetown vicinity.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at 2:00 PM, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 2 North Williams Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933. Burial will follow the Services at Bridgeville Cemetery, Market & Laws Streets.
Friends may visit on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE.
