Alma Jane Johnson's Obituary
Alma Jane Johnson, age 77 of Milford, DE, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at home. She was born on August 29, 1945, in Winfield, AL, daughter of the late Flem and Dessie Lou Bryant.
Alma was a graduate of West Highland High School in Fayette, AL, which taught her an unparalleled work ethic. She worked for Hoover High School in Alabama for 10 years, and at the Winfield Cotton Mill for 27 dedicated years. Alma also held a part-time position at Dollar Tree, which she thoroughly loved. She moved to Georgia in 2014 and became an active member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
Alma had many interests and hobbies. She loved being outdoors, especially fishing. Alma had a recipe for her famous pepper sauce that no one could replicate, and she caringly bottled them in unique jars, so everyone could enjoy. She always loved attending church and visiting family and friends; particularly driving with her grandchildren and going out to lunch. Alma was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Loved by many, she will be forever missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hayward Johnson; and her son, Paul Johnson. She is survived by her son, Phillip Johnson (Claudia) of Conyers, GA; her grandchildren: Christopher, Mallyson, Marteese, and Joshua; her great-grandchildren: Tanner, Aaliyah, Kinsely, Devon, Macauley, and Khal; her sister, Sarah Culps of Winfield, AL; her brother, Jimmy Bryant; her niece Sharon, who cared for her; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends, especially her niece, Shelia Ibrahim, who cared for Alma in her home during her illness, .
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Piney Grove Church of Christ, 731 County Road 65, Winfield, AL.
