Allen "Al" C. Hohman's Obituary
Allen “Al” C. Hohman, Jr., age 89, of Dewey Beach, DE made his journey to heaven on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 13, 1925 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Allen and Edna Hohman.
Mr. Hohman was a graduate of the McDonough School and the Diesel Engineering School. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II, witnessing the signing of the Peace Treaty by General MacArthur. Following his honorable discharge, Mr. Hohman worked in the family business, Trockenbrot Jewelry Store, located in Baltimore City. Later, he was employed as a Civil Engineer for the Maryland State Highway Administration.
In 1989 the Hohmans moved to Dewey Beach. Here Mr. Hohman enjoyed boating and fishing with his son, John and spending quality time with his family. During the winter months, the Hohmans resided in Marco Island, FL. Al loved the warmer weather in Florida, and he enjoyed playing shuffleboard and cards with their many friends.
Mr. Hohman was an active member in his local church, Lewes Presbyterian, faithfully washing dishes in the soup kitchen. He was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan and a member of the Dewey Beach Lions Club, Boumi Temple of Baltimore and Ocean City Shrine Club.
Mr. Hohman is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carol M. Hohman; a son, John Hohman, Sr. and his wife Peggy of Towson, MD; a daughter, Sherry Trageser and her husband Joseph of Jupiter, FL; four grandchildren: Jennifer and John Hohman, Jr., Caroline and Patrick Trageser; and a great-granddaughter, Casey Hohman.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Friends may also call from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958. A private interment will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, MD.
