Allan B. Hughes' Obituary
Allan Hughes, age 93 of Hockessin and Wilmington, passed away peacefully, on Friday August 18, 2023. He was born on December 12, 1929, in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Clifford and Helene (Buhner) Hughes.
Allan graduated from Northeastern University in Mechanical Engineering and served in the Army Ordnance Corp. While working in the DuPont Company, Engineering Department for 34 years as a Principal Consultant, he earned many international patents.
Allan was an active member of Limestone Presbyterian Church, a Lexington Masonic Lodge Freemason, a Battle Green DeMolay ‘Chevalier’, Baltimore County Genealogical Society President, and served on the STLE International Board of Directors. His hobbies included hunting, boating, gardening, reading, European history, and travel. Allan had a continual thirst for knowledge.
Allan is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ellen Davis; his daughters: Arlene (Gary), Karen (Bruce), and Valerie (Peter); and his grandchildren.
Services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Limestone Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 3201 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE, 19808-2198.
