Alissa Leigh Schubert's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alissa Leigh (Fierro) Schubert, a loving mother, a remarkable woman, and a dedicated, cherished friend and sister. Alissa left this Earth far too soon on Monday, October 27, 2025 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Her nurturing, warm and creative spirit, unwavering support, strong will, acerbic wit, and boundless love for family and life will forever live on in the hearts of those who were close to her.
Alissa was born on October 7,1969, the daughter of Frank and Lee Fierro; they were joined ten years later by her sister, Leigh Ann. Alissa was raised in Yardley, Pennsylvania and spent endless summers growing up in Midway Beach at the Jersey Shore. She graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1987, where she developed her passion for the arts in its well-known drama, choral, orchestral, and forensics programs. Alissa attended the University of Delaware, and graduated in 1991 with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. It was there that Alissa became a Delawarean for life, and met some of her very best and lifelong friends. During college, Alissa started working at MBNA America – The Bank – and remained there for over 15 years where she held various roles in customer assistance and marketing.
All of her life, Alissa had an appreciation for hospitality, delicious cuisine, and she had excellent taste. She applied this passion as a founder and visionary of the award-winning Mojo Loco food truck business with her friend, Steve Ruiz. She used her creativity to bring flavor to the menu, to the team, their mission, and community.
Her heart and her home were dedicated to her three amazing children, Samuel, Kate, and Frankie – they were the loves of her life. Alissa was all about la famiglia, and she made sure that the children knew from a very early age how to make – without a recipe – the greatest macaroni and cheese you will ever taste, the only apple pie you could ever want at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and her own version of Grandma Mary Fierro’s Sunday sauce (don’t dare call it gravy).
Along with spending time with her family, Alissa pursued so many interests, all centered around the arts, community, and family trips – preferably south to Charleston, Florida, or her favorite place in the world, Isla Mujeres in Mexico. Alissa was a movie buff and an excellent critic; she expressed herself through making beautiful paintings and vases; and she loved going to music festivals, spending time at the Delaware beaches, and indulging in a satisfying cocktail with the many people she loved.
Although Alissa faced health challenges in recent years, she took them on with fierce determination, bravery, and the utmost positivity.
Alissa is survived by her beloved and cherished children, Samuel, Kate, and Frankie Schubert, and Charlotte Heffernan, her sister and brother-in-law Leigh Ann and Emery Buziak along with her beloved nephew and niece, Emmerich and Octavia, her extended family of Paul, Tracy, Sophia, and Agnes Schubert and the entire Schubert clan, the Fierro family of cousins upon cousins, the Mojo Loco team and the food truck communities in which they live and work, and all of her many friends, neighbors, and connections from Yardley to Seaside to Newark to Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach.
A private family service was held on November 1st. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to honor Alissa, the family asks that you gather your family together for a flavorful and delicious family dinner – the sooner, the better.
Donations in Alissa's memory may be made to Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, a community that was incredibly important to her, Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital.
