Alice Louise Melson, a beloved resident of Ashburn, Virginia, peacefully passed away on August 24, 2023 at the age of 93. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Louise was born on December 19, 1929, in Salem, New Jersey, to the late Harry and Anna Mae Hopkins. At a young age, she moved to Bridgeville, Delaware, where she was lovingly raised by Anna Smith, a dedicated schoolteacher. She was a graduate of Bridgeville High School. Louise was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to travel, watch movies, and share meals with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time at Massanutten Resort in Virginia. She is remembered for her devotion to her family and her quirky sense of humor.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Lawrence R. Melson of Bridgeville; and their son, Dennis Clyde Melson. She is survived by their three children: G Brent Melson, of Washington, DC, Marcia Y Melson, of Ashburn, and Vicki Melson-Prewitt (Kenneth) of Manteca, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Prewitt and Joshua Prewitt
Louise's legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the ASPCA in her memory.
We mourn the loss of Louise, but we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the positive impact she had on those around her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
