Alice M. Buchholz's Obituary
Alice M. Buchholz, age 79, of Lewes, DE passed away on Christmas Day 2018, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes, DE, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 28, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late John Michael and Vivian (Kliamas) Povilaitis.
Alice attended Our Lady of Victory Grammar School and was a graduate of West Catholic High School for girls, both in Philadelphia, PA. In 1973, she graduated from nursing school in Wilmington, DE, and worked for a time in Wilmington and then for several years in Ripon Wisconsin. For over 35 years, Alice worked at Beebe Medical Center, first at the hospital, then at Peachtree and finally at the Gull House. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, baking, history and caring for her little scamp, Benny. Anyone who knew Alice knew that she had a song or a saying for just about everything! Most of all, though, Alice was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her son, John Vincent Toohey in 1984 and her husband, Arthur G. Buchholz in 2009. She is survived by four daughters: Victoria H. DaPonte (Michael) of Millersville, MD, Susan M. Monroe (Clay) of Lewes, DE, Mary Alice Zeh (David) of Exton, PA, and Alicia B Myers (Paul) of Easton, PA; two sons: Kevin M. Toohey (Donna Winegar) and Michael J. Toohey (Georgia Truit) both of f Lewes, DE; 11 grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Sean, Megan, Justin, Rachel, Ryan, Sarah, Emma, Lily and Owen; 10 precious great grandchildren; and one sister, Dolores M. Povilaitis, of Berwyn, PA.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Parsell Funeral Home & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958 where friends may call beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alice's name to the Gull House, 34382 Carpenter's Way, Lewes, DE 19958 or to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Spina Bifida Clinic either by mail, online, or by phone:
