Albert Merrill Stumpfel's Obituary
Albert Merrill Stumpfel, age 90, of Bethany Beach, DE, died on Friday, March 06, 2015 at Beebe Healthcare. He was born in Baltimore, MD, on Tuesday, October 28, 1924 son of the late Joseph and Amelia (Quasny) Stumpfel.
Mr. Stumpfel proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Navy, where he was honorably discharged as an Aviation Ordnanceman First Class. He enjoyed a 50 year career as an Electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #24. After residing in Baltimore, MD for 30 years, Albert and his wife relocated to the Bethany Beach resort area, where they celebrated 70 years of marriage this past September.
Mr. Stumpfel would spend his leisure time creating beautiful stain glass works of art and glass etching pieces, which he shared with family and friends.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Dagsboro and the King David's Lodge #68 AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Pasadena, MD.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stumpfel was preceded in death by his son, Kurt Alan Stumpfel. Mr. Stumpfel is survived by his wife of 70 years, Grace E. (Mendell) Stumpfel of Bethany Beach, DE; a daughter, Jan-Marie Morgan and her significant other Fred Mueller of York, PA; nine great- grandchildren, Brandon, Abigail, Mikah, Cordelia, Juliette, Maddi, Raelyn, Johnny and Jakob; four granddaughters, Ange Long and her husband Joe of Baltimore, MD; Michelle Carson and her husband Johnny of Belair, MD; Grace Daniel and her husband Timothy of York, PA and Sue Stolte and her husband Mark of Edgewood, MD.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, 34874 Atlantic Avenue, Ocean View, DE 19970. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Stumpfel's memory may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
