Albert Charles Penny III's Obituary
Albert Charles Penny III, age 83, of Georgetown, DE, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. He was born in Chester, PA, on October 14, 1928, son of the late Albert Charles Penny II and Anna Marie (Crawford) Penny. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Marie Penny.
Mr. Penny enjoyed a long career as a letter carrier for the USPS and he retired as a Staff Sergeant after 35 years with the Army National Guard. He and his wife of 60 years moved to the beach in 1998. Mr. Penny was a devout Catholic who taught CCD classes for many years and he prayed the rosary daily as he was devoted to the Blessed Mother. He loved the Philadelphia Flyers, coached boys hockey and girls softball over the years. He was an avid bowler. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn (Fullmer) Penny; his son, Daniel Albert Penny and his wife Agnes of Allentown, PA; two daughters: Evelyn Ann Penny of Georgetown and Ann Marie Pinals and husband Andrew of E. Northport, NY; 15 grandchildren; and two sisters: Mary Patak and Patricia Btes both of New Jersey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE. Family and friends may visit with the family at the church on Friday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958.
