Albert "Butch" James Hovis' Obituary
Albert James “Butch” Hovis, age 73, of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. He was born in Dundalk, MD son of the late Albert Tittiger and Amelia Nelson.
Mr. Hovis graduated from Dundalk High School and received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from The Catholic University of America in 1992. He was a highly educated man who spent time in Rome, Italy pursuing religious studies. Mr. Hovis was committed to God and enjoyed helping others. He was particularly fond of the work he did as a Mental Health Counselor in Sussex County. An avid reader and lover of animals, he would often provide care for stray and abandoned cats. Mr. Hovis loved people; he especially loved the special bond he shared with his sister, Susan. He was well known as a kind and caring man, committed to his family, friends and community.
Mr. Hovis is survived by his loving sister, Susan Tittiger of Rehoboth Beach, DE; a brother, Edward Tittiger of Linthicum, MD; an Aunt Ruth Hurley of Dundalk, MD and two cousins: Lynda Sobus of Havre De Grace, MD and Dotty Cristy of Dundalk, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947 or to your favorite animal shelter.
