Albert Stephen Fox's Obituary
Albert Fox, age 85, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side at his Rehoboth Beach home on August 11, 2015. He was born on August 31, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Albert S. and Blanche (Cornet) Fox.
Mr. Fox is known by family, friends and co-workers for his quick wit, uncanny memory for anecdotes and events, and his kindness toward all.
He was raised in Brooklyn, NY and as a young boy he studied slight-of-hand and began entertaining with magic tricks. After graduating from the prestigious Brooklyn Technical High School, he met his soon-to-be wife, Alice Gibbons, through their local church. They were married in 1952 and together they raised 3 children.
At 19 years of age, Al was employed by the United Nations, first working on the printing presses. Over many years he worked his way up to Chief of Publishing, retiring from the U.N. after 40 years of dedicated service.
While living in New Jersey, Mr. Fox was a devout member of West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood. There he taught Sunday School and was a mentor for countless children and teenagers in the youth ministries program, where he was known as "Uncle Al".
Extended family remember Al for his caring demeanor, loyalty to family and ever-readiness to whip up another magic trick to entertain the kids.
Mr. Fox is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alice (Gibbons) Fox of Rehoboth Beach, DE; two daughters, Denise Fox of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Christine Fox-Roberts DMD of Lewes, DE a son, Kevin Fox of Emerson, NJ and four grandchildren, Anthony Fox, Alyssa Fox, Lia Naselli and David Naselli.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 PM, Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may call beginning at 6 PM. Interment will be Friday, August 14, 2015 at 1 PM at the George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
