Alan L. Speich passed away peacefully at his home in Millsboro, Delaware, on June 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Alan grew up on Long Island and graduated from Calhoun High School in Merric Read Obituary
Al and I worked together in Germantown, MD. He was there when I started in 2007 and was a mentor and friend. We have been out of touch since he retired in 2018 but he would always reach out to me on Facebook when it was my birthday to simply say "Happy Birthday". He did this every year consistently without fail and that meant alot that he would take time out of his day to do so. That's a true friend.
He always talked about his wife Bonnie and kids. They were his world to him. I had the pleasure of meeting Bonnie in the office when she visited for a retirement luncheon our coworkers had for him.
I'm attaching some photos of him, Bonnie and I as well as another photo with him, myself and another coworker Gwen. These were taken in Germantown at the retirement luncheon.
To Bonnie and family, you are in my prayers. May his love comfort you every day. Thank you for sharing him with us, his Germantown, MD work family 😊 He will truly be missed.

Ed and I met Al and Bonnie when we first moved here to Pelican point. He was our HOA rep and then he became a dear and close friend. We have so many memories of time spent together but our fondest memory is spending a vacation together in Port Saint Lucie to see the Mets just this past March. We are so happy we could help make Al’s wish come true to see the team he loved so much. We will miss him greatly but he will always have a special place in our hearts.
I served as VP on a Homeowners Association board for 7 years in Germantown Maryland with Al who was the President during my entire tenure. He was passionate, organized and very knowledgeable about serving our community. We kept in touch throughout the years on FB, so I am well aware that Al, Bonnie and their family were living their best life. While I’m saddened about the family’s loss, I’m prayerful that their mourning turns into celebration for a life well lived.
It's hard to put into words how much Al meant to me.
What started as a client relationship quickly turned into a friendship, and I'm incredibly grateful for that. Al was one of those people who always made you feel like you were doing something right. He was one of my biggest supporters—not just in real estate, but of me as a person.
In this business, you meet a lot of people, but every once in a while someone comes along who leaves a mark. Al was that person. He was kind, genuine, easy to laugh with, and someone you always looked forward to seeing. He believed in me long before he ever had to, and I'll never forget that.
I'm going to miss seeing his name pop up on my phone, catching up on life, and hearing his encouragement. The world lost a really good man, and I lost a friend.
My heart goes out to his family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Thank you, Al, for always believing in me, supporting my work, and, most importantly, for your friendship.
Rest easy, my friend. You will be missed more than you know.
Sincere condolences to Bonnie and the family. I knew Al from CMW Community Board and it saddens me greatly to learn of this. Al had a boisterous personality yet always tried to be fair. I miss his astute yet caring spirit with his Bronx demeanor. RIP cindy

Although I only had the pleasure of meeting Bonnie and Al one time, I am heartbroken about his passing. I so enjoyed a day in the city with Sharon’s family who I felt immediately drawn to. I had a wonderful conversation with Al whose warmth and humor drew me in. I am so sorry about his passing and I keep all of the family in my prayers. May he rest in peace.
When Jim and I first bought our house in Millsboro, the Speich family were the first people we met at the pool. Al was very friendly and helpful providing us with information about the community. He gave us both great nicknames to help him remember our names, Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. He was a great man, with a wonderful wife and family who will sorely miss him. We will all miss him.
