Agnes B. Ripper's Obituary
Agnes B. Ripper, age 76, of Titusville, PA passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE, surrounded by her children and family. She was born on March 23, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Howard J. and Hortense (Farsari) Caufield.
Mrs. Ripper was a 1958 graduate of Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn, NY. She began her career as a Clerk working for the New York Life Insurance Company where she met the love of her life, Barry. They married in 1960 and together moved to Titusville, PA, where they settled down to raise their four beautiful children. For many years, Mrs. Ripper ran their Ripper's Country Store and later worked for various companies in the Titusville area including the Keystone Honing Company, Cross Creek Resort, Murdoch Florist and finally at the Inn at Franklin.
Mrs. Ripper was a member of Red Hat Society and a parishioner of St. Titus Catholic Church. She enjoyed volunteering at UPMC Northwest Hospital and at the Cherrytree Elementary School. She was an avid gardener, who loved planting and taking care of her colorful variety of flowers. She also enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family and painting. The past several years, she enjoyed spending the winters with her daughter Catherine and family in Delaware. The most important thing in Mrs. Ripper's life was her family, especially her grandchildren who were the apples of her eyes. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a dear friend by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ripper was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Barry J. Ripper, Sr. in 2011, five brothers, Howard, Edward, James, Kenneth and Joseph, and her beloved beagle, Lucy. She is survived by her four children: Dorothy Staub and her husband, Timothy, of Oil City, PA, Barry J. Ripper, Jr. and his wife, Christina, of Titusville, PA, John Ripper and his wife, Melinda, of Butler, PA and Catherine Price and her husband, Jeffrey, of Lewes, DE; ten grandchildren: Timothy, Jr., Daniel, Benjamin, Tyler, Nicholas, Alyssa, Andrew, Stephanie, Margaret and Adam; three great-grandchildren: Isabella, Caleb and Justice; and two sisters: Dorothy Gaffney and her husband Richard and Lynn Dripps and her husband Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 4, 2016, at 10:00 AM, at St. Titus Catholic Church, 513 W. Main Street, Titusville, PA 16354, where friends may visit beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow services at Kerr Hill Cemetery, Route 27 – Oil Creek Township – Gresham, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Ripper's memory to the Cherrytree Volunteer Fire Department, Cherrytree Road, Titusville, PA 16354.
