Adi Maneckshaw's Obituary

Ardeshire Maneck Jamshedji Maneckshaw, “Adi”, age 79 of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2019, at his home after a year-long battle with lung cancer. He was born on October 28, 1939 in Bombay, India, son of the late Maneck and Nanjoo Maneckshaw.
Adi received a BS in Physics from Poona University in 1961 and emigrated to the United States shortly thereafter. He received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Indiana University in 1963. Adi worked for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad in Indiana before being naturalized as a US citizen in May, 1968, when his long and distinguished career with the Department of Defense began at Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois. Adi served in engineering management roles at the United States Naval Academy, the Naval Weapons Station in Concord, CA, and the Defense Logistics Agency until his retirement in 2003.
Adi was married to Marge Johnson from 1964 to 1975 and had four children. His second marriage to Carol Settler Rosenberg in 1979 spanned nearly 40 years and brought her three sons into the unified family. After retirement, Adi and Carol moved to Rehoboth Beach where they quickly became an important part of the social scene at the Villages at Old Landing. Their devotion and commitment were ended only by Carol's passing in June, 2019.
Adi enjoyed tennis, dancing, classic cars, practical jokes, playing the guitar and harmonica, and spicy food. He was also a lifelong dog lover.
Adi is survived by his children: Nanette Packard, Michelle Staudenmeier (Joseph), James Maneckshaw (Leila), Stephanie King (Steven), Ellis Rosenberg (Ronna), Stuart Rosenberg (Anna), and Brian Rosenberg (Michelle Feig); his 14 grandchildren; his 3 great-grandchildren; and his niece, Pinky Daruwalla.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 3:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit with the family beginning at 2:00 PM. The family will continue to honor his memory and receive mourners at the family home immediately following the service.
Internment will take place on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 11:30 AM at Oheb Shalom Memorial Park in Reisterstown, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Adi's memory to The Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037.
