Rick played an important part in my life as mentor, step-father, and a sounding board. As Elaine wrote, Rick could calm any baby, including me. Many a times I escaped to Delaware to be greeted by Rick, almost running, before I even got out of my car so he could carry my bags into the house. No trip would be complete without a trip to Grotto's Pizza, beach combing, playing in the arcades and watching NASCAR. I would head home all refreshed. On my 40th Birthday, mom and Rick and Aunt Jane and Uncle Chet surprised me with a trip on the ferry to the Jersey shores. What fun, walking the boards, enjoying the fresh sea air and of course, playing in the arcades!! Then the next day a police officer dressed as batman, complete with a batmobile showed up at our hotel for a police convention! Rick did not like to be the center of attention. But, one proud day he was when mom and I convinced him to show his Ford in a antique car show in Selbyville. Will never forget how happy he was that day. Love you Rick. You will be with me in spirit. Especially as I watch NASCAR tonight on TV.
