My grandparents were friends of the Wheats and my father babysat Jane. My parents asked Bob Hatter to be my godfather and even though Jane wasn't my godmother I considered her as such. Our families shared visits together with the Hatters. I visited them in Lewes, went to Bob's funeral, and visited Jane both at her home in Lewes and at Cadbury. Sometimes I would lug friends along. She always welcomed them with open arms. The garden was one of her true passions and I'm glad that I sent a small photo album that she could remember it by after moving to Cadbury. She will be missed by us all.
