William “Bill” John Ohno, age 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home in Millsboro, DE, with his devoted wife, caregiver, and advocate, Maria, by his side. After a rigorous, yet courageous, battle with Read Obituary
Sorry to learn of Bill’s passing. I hadn’t seen Bill in many years, but I have fond memories of fishing with him along the coast of Narragansett Bay and working for the DMA. Bill was truly a nice guy who was passionate about his job, loved to run and a great fisherman. Cheers to you my friend, it was my honor having known you!
I worked with Billy at the Providence Field Office from 1984-1987. We used to fish at Quidnick Reservoir sharing many funny stories with each other. We also went to a Red Sox game in Boston. I always admired Bill’s athleticism in the triathlons he used to run. I loved Billy’s smile and still remember his contagious laugh. My condolences to the Ohno family …. Billy will be missed.

I was new to the office at NOAA, working as a contractor, and my cubicle was right across from Bill's. He and I shared an affinity for the Washington Nationals and I will never forget the 2019 season and how Bill and I shared in celebrating every victory in their magical season. When they won the World Series - I came into work the next morning and we were both glowing and we shared a hug. We got to know each other, and he was very excited to spend time at the Paradise Grill during retirement. Rest in Peace Bill - and my condolences to his family. He was an awesome guy!
Bill was one of the kindest and most genuine human beings we have ever known. We will always cherish our times together over the last 15 years, and are so glad he retired to Delaware with us. We will hoist an IPA in his honor at all of his favorite places. He will always hold a special place in our hearts. RIP dear friend.
