Ramona Mae Rogers

February 14, 1933 - April 27, 2021

Ramona Mae Smith Stark Rogers, age 88 of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Harbor Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, in Lewes, DE. She was born on February 14, 1933 in Elkins, WV, daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Buchanan) Smith. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Salvation Army Band where she played the drums and the trumpet in Clarksburg, WV. She graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1952. Following graduation, she went to work for Maidenform Brassiere Factory for many years. In 1967 Ramona started working for the Hope Gas Company (Dominion Energy) in Bridgeport, WV. She then moved to the Clarksburg office where she was the Customer Information Center Coordinator until 1995 when she retired after 28 years of service. Mrs. Rogers was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Queen Ester Chapter 11 in Bridgeport, WV. She was also an active member at the Simpson Creek Baptist Church where she loved participating in the Ladies Group. Mrs. Rogers treasured her beloved papillon dog Rosie and walked her religiously two or three times daily. She was a kind, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert H. Stark, and her second husband, Alden C. Rogers, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Stark Keith of Lewes, DE; her grandson, Mathew Kenneth Allen and his wife, Mary and her great grandson Luka Allen of VA; her sisters: Shirley Ann Price Luksik of OH, and Anita Louise Price Farne’ of VA; her stepson, Alden Lee Rogers and his wife, Pat of VA; her stepdaughters: Patricia Rogers Schader of WA and Valentine Rogers White of WV; and her step grandchildren: Laura Dick, Alden Scott, Russell Dale, Kevin Lee, Jeffrey Dotson, and Nicole Raye. A funeral service with Eastern Star services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Ford Funeral Home, 215 E Main Street, Bridgeport, WV, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services at Bridgeport Cemetery, 400 Benedum Drive, Bridgeport, WV. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks must be worn, and social distancing must be observed by everyone attending any aspect of the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Rogers' memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
