I remember John emailed me one evening around 9 PM. I was finishing up some work so I responded to him right away. John then responded right away and "said don't act like I am working after hours". My response was that I am your hardest working employee. He called me and we talked and laughed on the phone for almost 2 hours. We shared how we both like to snack at night. He told me that Andrea would hide the unhealthy snacks lol. he told me Chris and Andrea would be eating snacks so he knew they were in the house. John said that he would wake Andrea up and ask where are the snacks. We were both laughing so hard. John and I met because of work but my love for John is because of him as a person. I loved talking to him about tools and going to home depot lol. We would even talk about tools in the middle of a conference call at work. He truly loved his family. We would talk for the longest time about Petey. Well John would talk a long time about Petey lol.

Going to the service online was so very special and amazing. Thank you for allowing us to attend. Some of the stories explained some of his behaviors with me. When I first started working with them he was asking me about some of our hobbies, I ride a Harley, ATV's, love fishing, camping I mean glamping (we use an RV). I told John I was going to figure out how to hook up my computer to my ATV so that I could work and ride. He laughed and told me to do it! Then when we purchased our RV, he said he was going to go buy one just from what I showed him and told him! I told him that would be awesome we could figure out a business trip and have his family and my family meet up!! He was in!! Andrea I'm sure he had to have told you he was gonna get his house on wheels. I told him I would help set anything up for him so he could go RVing with us and we could even get his machines hooked up for him if he still needed them.
What an awesome man, I feel so blessed to have gotten the time I did to work with him and get to know him. I'm so sorry this happened Andrea, Chris, family, and friends..
I do hope that I get to meet the two of you face to face some day. I hope that you find peace knowing he is watching over you. I wish I could offer more than just words to make this easier. Please know my family and I are thinking of you, and are here if you need anything at all......I know this is so very hard, John was amazing, you could hear his pride when he would talk about the two of you. I think someone used the word infections, I think that was a perfect word to describe his personality, infections.......I promise to reach out at some point and call you Andrea I wanted to give you some time, I would love to tell you what he did for me. Thank you for sharing him with us at HP, he had a way of making each of us feel like family. Dear Family,
I have such great memories of Johnny and his brothers. We all grew up together being close friends with Ronnie and Darlene and the boys were always around. Johnny was always making us laugh and so dang handsome. His smile and calm personality was a welcome to everyone that met him. All the summers together watching the fireworks and cookouts at 3rd Avenue. Johnny was always looking out for his brothers and his cousins...such a very close family. My heart aches for you all. John, you will be so missed. Thank you for all of the wonderful memories and years of laughter you brought to our family. We love you and hope you are resting in heavenly peace met by Granny (who loved your company so much) and all of the other dear relatives in heaven. Praying for comfort for Andrea and Chris. John was kind, he showed compassion and commitment to us all. He moved me over to his team in April, 2014 after working for PPS - HP’s Printing & Personal Systems Group. He was a mentor who believed in me, he was a friend and brought out the best in everyone. (Always Fed #1)
I will cherish the memories of all the team meetings we had with him. He fought a good fight, he finished the course….
The scripture says: in 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (7) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (8) Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day and not only me, but also all who have longed for his appearing.
Meaning of this scripture: As he neared the end of his life, Paul could confidently say he had been faithful to his call, Though he faced death calmly, knowing that he would be rewarded by Christ. The good news is that the heavenly reward is not just for giants of the faith like Paul but for all who are eagerly looking forward to Jesus’ second coming. Paul gave these words to encourage Timothy and us - that no matter how difficult the fight seems, keep fighting. When we are with Jesus Christ, we will discover that it was all worth it.
It’s a day that will forever be etched into my memory. As I celebrated my husband’s birthday (November 17, 2020), John was transcending into that room never to return. So for me, this is not “Goodbye” but “See You Later” John Nelson. Rest in Peace
