Howard M. Downes, age 80 of Camden Wyoming, DE, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, DE. He was born on June 24, 1941 in Georgetown, DE, son of the late Martin D. and Ruth M. (Wilson) Downes. Mr. Downes worked as a paint fabricator and retired after a dedicated career with O.A. Newton in Bridgeville, DE. He enjoyed working on old cars and going to the racetrack. He liked camping and playing music on his guitar. Above all, Mr. Downes relished spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Downes was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Downes; his son, Howard A. Downes; his sisters: Barbara Bumgarner and Bonnie Downes; his second wife, Cathlene Wildermuth; and his son-in-law, Paul Hays. He is survived by his daughters: Theresa Bare (Jerry) of Wilkesboro, NC, Debra Davis of Wilkesboro, NC, Kathy Hayes of Preston, MD, and Tammy Crawford (Guy) of Camden, DE; his son, Keith Downes (Ashleigh) of Snow Hill, MD; his extended children: Charles Esham of Georgetown, DE and John Jones of Bivalve, MD; his stepsons: Lydon Wildermuth and Padrick Wildermuth; his numerous grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; his nieces and nephews; his brother, William D. Downes (Betty) of Laurel, DE; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Bush (Charlie) of Georgetown, DE; and many others that Mom and Pop loved dearly. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood, DE.
