Francine Helene Corcoran Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Francine H. Corcoran, age 77, of Lewes, DE, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022. She was born on May 29, 1944, in Weehawken, NJ and grew up in Teaneck, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Milton M. and Frieda (Postol) Siegel. Francine graduated from Teaneck High School, Class of 1962. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Douglass Residential College at Rutgers University. Working with children was one of her life’s passions, and she enjoyed a meaningful and fulfilling career as a teacher in the Head Start Program. In 2010, she and her husband Allan moved to Lewes, where she was an active member of her community and served as the treasurer of the Bay Pointe Social Group for many years. Francine had many interests. She could always be found doing things to keep her mind stimulated, such as word games and puzzles, mahjong, Book Club and playing pinochle with her many wonderful friends. She loved going out to eat, to the movies and spending time at the community pool, and the Delaware beaches. She was an avid reader and loved music. Francine was a caring, loving, friendly, and giving person, and had compassion for everyone she knew. Her devotion to her family, however, took precedence above all and the time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, is what she cherished most. Francine also had a competitive side. She loved watching Michigan State football and basketball with her husband (his alma mater). She was always ping-pong champion during family competitions. Traveling far distances to root for her grandkids during their many sporting events was commonplace. In addition to her parents, Francine was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Siegel of Los Angeles, CA. She is survived by her beloved husband of forty-four years, Allan D. Corcoran; her daughters: Michele Ziegler (Tom) of Hampstead, MD, Jennifer Mahoney (John Watson, IV) of Berlin, MD, and Gabrielle Sargent (Keith) of Whitehall, MD; her beloved grandchildren: Ryley, Brady, and Kennedy Ziegler of Hampstead, MD, Skyler Mahoney and Alex Watson of Berlin, MD, and Owen and Jax Sargent of Whitehall, MD. A Public visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, 11:00 AM-12:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. A short graveside service will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 660 Pilottown Road, Lewes, DE. at 12:30. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Parsell funeral homes requires that masks be worn by everyone while in the facility. However, masks at the Graveside service are optional.
