Ferdinand W. Mical, age 96 of Lewes, DE and formerly of Washington, DC, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Delaware Hospice, in Milford, DE. He was born on January 26, 1926, in Lowell, MA, son of the late Peter and Victoria (Szukala) Mical. Mr. Mical built a lifelong career as an electrician with the IBEW Local 26, serving the greater Metro & Washington, DC areas. He was proud to be a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, IBEW, also known as “I Bowl Every Week”. Mr. Mical was an avid sports fan, particularly loyal to the Washington Redskins, and was known as the family jokester. Above all, he cherished time spent with those he held most dear. Mr. Mical was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Loved by many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mical was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elaine (Poulos) Mical; and his son, James Mical. He is survived his sons: Gary S. Mical (Vicki) of Wheaton, MD, and Robert A. Mical of Charlottesville, VA; his daughter, Vikki M. Bateman (Joseph) of Denton, MD; his grandchildren: Deborah Mowatt, Randy V. Smith (Jenny), Steven Niese (Wendy), Christopher Mical, and Vanessa Renee Mical; his great-grandchildren: Samuel Mowatt, Bayley Mowett, Paige Stanley, Stevie Niese, and Calvin Niese; and his brother, Frank Mical (Gena). A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment with honors will follow at 1:00 PM, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing protocols must be observed, and masks are required of all persons attending or participating in any aspect of the services.
