Eleanor P. Corey

Corey, age 98 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born on September 2, 1921 in Chelmsford, MA, daughter of the late Fritz and Rose (Paignon) Pearson. Mrs. Corey worked for the US Government, passing the civil services exam immediately out of high school, starting at an entry level position, and working her way up to an administrative officer. She retired in 1970 after many dedicated years. Mrs. Corey married Frank, the love of her life in 1945, and in 1964 they built a cottage in Rehoboth Beach. They later would make Lewes Beach their permanent home following retirement. A faithful member of All Saints Church, Mrs. Corey was an alter girl for 27 years. She was a member of Rehoboth Beach Country Club, and enjoyed gardening and cooking. Mrs. Corey loved music and dancing, and relished Sunday Jam Sessions at her home. Above all, she cherished time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The enduring bond and love between her and Frank was remarkable and carried over so much so that she regularly watched golf tournaments on TV, (golf was Frank’s passion), in order to feel close to him after his death. They were the perfect match for each other for over 60 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Corey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Corey; her brothers: Richard Pearson, Roy Pearson and Emile Pearson; and her sister, Ruth Cote’. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at All Saints Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow the services at 1:00 PM, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mrs. Corey's memory to the Beebe Medical Foundation, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958, or All Saints Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
