Dear Mark, Julie Ann, and Family,
On behalf of your wonderful Dad's sisters and brothers in Christ at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist in Milton, we send heartfelt condolences and fervent prayers. Last year we were deeply honored as a parish when your Dad worshiped with us as we honored his faithful ministry to the family of faith at St. John the Baptist during his time as Rector. He holds a revered place in our history, also, because of his commitment to racial equality and justice in answering Dr. King's call by marching in the second Selma March. When he visited, I resonated with him immediately! Truly, as you say, he had countless exemplary qualities, including his gentleness, warmth, kindness, humor, and his embodiment of his Savior's love. You can be so proud!
I deeply regret that a conference this evening and the Ordination to the Diaconate of my cousin on Sat in DC prevents me from being present for the visitation and Service.
We have been remembering your Dad in the Prayers at Mass these last Sundays, and each day in my personal prayers. Truly, as your Dad breathed his last, he heard the voice of the Risen Christ: "Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Master!" Thanks be to God for the life and ministry of Father Laurence Miller!
Praying the abiding presence of the Good Shepherd will embrace you with comfort, peace, and Easter's living hope!
In Christ's Love,
Fr. Tom White, Rector
