I just learned of Roy's passing. I enjoyed many visits with him at his home and on Grounds at the University of Virginia. He enjoyed visiting with other alumni and the Dean of the McIntire School of Commerce. I retired several years ago so haven't seen him recently but certainly will never forget him. Roy was a gentleman and gentle man. We are so grateful that our paths crossed at UUSD, and we got to know him as a kind man who never wanted the spotlight for his generous deeds. We will miss him.

Roy reminds me of the waters in which he liked to go fly fishing - turbulent and challenging in spots but serene and gentle overall. Like a subtle stream, he nurtured those close to him and the broader community with his humble generosity and wit.

Roy was my Friend. I was his Friend, We laughed a lot together; sharing stories of our lives … his were more interesting than mine. I did his grocery and seafood shopping during his final months.
