Mary Deane Willis (nee Benson) was born December 9, 1934, in Mansfield, Ohio. The only daughter of Albert and Deva Benson, she graduated from The Ohio State University in 1956 with a BSN degree and was a member of the Sigma Theta Read Obituary
Mary was a dearly beloved member of the American Legion Duplicate Bridge group. She arrived each day with a smile on her face, greeting each member with her joyful expressions. Mary loved playing bridge and she is missed by all. In Mary’s honor, our group made a donation to the American Legion Post 28. We miss you, Mary! Rest in Peace.
I worked with Mary at Annandale Family Medicine for many years. She was our Head Nurse and was respected and loved by all patients and staff. During any office storm or delay, there was always one employee that would be the first to arrive to let us know, the office is open. Mary loved to hear the story of a dream I had about her, Mary Ann Darmentio(Nurse) and Carolyn Braden(Billing). In my dream, I drove around picking up people taking them to assist with some disaster, and the above mentioned were the ones I saw walking on a road and I took them to help. We would discuss the dream and the meaning behind it.
We had great Halloween dress up days and the entire office participated and Mary had a great Clown costume that was so cute and she she wore it proudly.
She would come in after any holiday and share with us stories of baking cookies with the grandchildren. These adapted these traits to my own grandchildren. The was the greatest mentor to me.
I loved when George would come into the office and call out to her’Mary Deane’ with such endearment. I loved both of them so much and I will hold dear memories in my heart always.

My deepest sympathy and prayers to all of nurse Mary's loved ones. I first met this "angel on earth" when I started taking my mama to the Drs many decades ago. Mary and my mom just loved each other.
She eventually became my nurse as well and who didn't love nurse Mary.
We stayed in touch after she retired via cards and email. I had not gotten replies from the last e Cards I'd sent her, she was always really good about replying.
If ever there was a real angel on earth it was nurse Mary.
She will be sorely missed by so many.

Mary was a gentle, kind, and sharing person. I haven't seen Mary since Covid but played on-line bridge with her. She always had the witty chat lines during our play. Also talked with her on the phone. I only wish I could have seen her one last time RIP Mary.
Our families go back 50 years. There are so many fond memories, it would take pages to list them. It started with our youngest sons being born months apart and growing up together, playing soccer and much more. Our husbands birthdays were 4 days apart, and were celebrated together. We made candies for special occasions (Easter, Halloween, Christmas), did crafts, commisserted over things that bugged us, traveled to our favorite Amish market in PA - and after Mary's move to DE to the one there. She was always ready to try something new; nothing was impossible to her. She loved the outlets and shopping for clothes for her family. My heart goes out to her family; she was the glue that held them together. She will definitely be missed.

Sweet, Sweet, Mary. The glow about her was radiant. I looked forward to seeing Mary at the Legion hall on Wednesday afternoons where she would come to play bridge. She was always the first one there and I did my level best to see that a fresh cup of coffee was waiting for her. She would often bring books to donate, and we would would take a few minutes to critique the daily specials seeing if I could guess what she would be having. She was such a joy and the other players always gathered close to her, chatting before playing. She was one of the brightest spots of my day. That lovely smile will be missed.
