Dorothy Tennov, Ph.D., of Harbeson, DE, died February 3, 2007, at home. Dorothy was born August 29, 1928 in Montgomery, AL.
Dorothy Tennov was a college professor, author and mother. She spent her earlier years in Queens, NY. She received her bachelors from Brooklyn College and her Ph.D. from the University of Bridgeport, where she was a college professor for 20 years. She wrote several books: Psychotherapy The Hazardous Cure, Super Self, Love and Limerence, and the E Book -- The Collected Works of Dorothy Tennov. She was author of numerous articles on psychological topics published in scientific and educational journals, and she wrote essays on aspects of women's social conditions throughout her life. She also wrote a short play about life in a nursing home entitled "Rhonda Halsey at Home."
Ms. Tennov moved to Delaware in 1986 and lived a majority of her years in Millsboro, where she played piano for a local church, volunteered at the nursing home, gave lectures at the local senior learning academy and volunteered at the community theatre, Possum Point Players. She had a great passion for music, especially classical, which she would play on the piano, as well as enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her son Randall Hoffman. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Russell Hoffman and wife Sharon of Carlsbad, CA, and Daniel Hoffman and wife JoAnne of Harbeson, DE. She has three grandchildren, Keith, Lauren and Bryan Hoffman of Harbeson.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.
