Margaret Teresa Mary Connolly , age, 77 of Milton and Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 21, 1934, daughter of the late William J. and Agnes (MacTaggart) Connolly.
Miss Connolly initially attended St. Clements Elementary School in Long Island, NY. Her family moved to Middletown, NY, where she graduated from St. Joseph Elementary School and Middletown High School. She spent much of her adult life in Middletown, and Montgomery, NY. As the youngest of five children, she stayed home to care for her parents. She worked for Classy Leather Goods in Middletown, NY, and spent the better part of her working career as an Administrative Assistant for the Orange County, NY, Department of Social Services. After retiring to Rehoboth Beach in 1998, she was a member of and dedicated volunteer in the office of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church of Lewes and was the Newsletter Editor for the Cape Henlopen Senior Center in Rehoboth Beach.
Miss Connolly enjoyed traveling, playing and teaching family members how to play the piano, reading, gardening, knitting, and pottery. She especially enjoyed walking her dogs on the beach, jumping the waves, strolling the boardwalk, and evening tea. She will be sorely missed by family, friends, coworkers and her beloved dachshund, Sandy.
Miss Connolly is survived by her siblings, John Connolly & his wife Eileen of Cheyenne, WY, Rosemary Reisinger & her husband Richard of Marco Island, FL, David Connolly & his wife Jackie of St. Louis, MO, and Betty Herrling & her husband David of Rehoboth Beach. She is also survived and cherished by her many loving nieces and nephews and their families and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church "Chapel", 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE, 19958. Friends may call at the church chapel beginning at 9:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.
