Biography

Jessie H. Springmann of Lewes, DE, formerly of Bowie, MD, age 90, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Cadbury At Lewes, Lewes, DE. Mrs. Springmann was born February 2, 1920 in Elkton, MD, daughter of the late Martin K. and Goldie Mae (Reed) Helmick.

Mrs. Springmann was an accomplished tailor and seamstress, day care provider and homemaker. She had a remarkable number of friends whom she met through associations with church, auxiliaries, and her profession. Her greatest loves, however were her 8 children, 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Francis E. Springmann, Sr. and her daughter, Martha J. Leizear. She is survived by seven children: Francis E. Springmann, Jr. of FL, Mary E. Vernon of Lewes, Charles P. Springmann of Crofton, MD, Charlotte A. Hardman of Stevensville, MD, Helen W. Pometto of Crofton, James M. Springmann of Merritt Island, FL, and Donald J. Springmann of Oakland, MD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 22, 12:00 Noon, at St. Jude The Apostle Church, DE Route 1 north of Five Points, Lewes, DE. Friends may call on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 109 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE 19947.
