Idella Myers Pettyjohn

Idella Myers Pettyjohn, age 102 of Lewes, Delaware died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Harbor Healthcare and RehabCenter in Lewes, Delaware.

Miss Pettyjohn was born in Lewes, Delaware on October 8, 1907 daughter of the late Myers Pettyjohn and Dellophine Walls Pettyjohn. Miss Pettyjohn was raised on the family farm. She was the first person baptized at the St. Johns United Methodist Church at Springfield Crossroads near Millsboro, DE where she was a member till her death. She was the last surviving member of the Class of 1926 of Lewes High School. When she was not farming and taking care of her family she enjoyed reading.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Bertha Pettyjohn in 1991 and Arzie Dodd in 1971. She is survived by nephew David Truitt and niece Adelta Dodd and great nephew James Hastings and great niece Betty Jane Eiseman.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday Feb. 28, 2010 at 2 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may call after 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Springfield Crossroads, near Millsboro, DE.
