Both Aunt Shirleen and Uncle Dick were such special people. The memories of our families gathering together in PA and DE are times that were enjoyable for everyone. We all had fun camping at Shawnee State Park and sharing times at our homes. The Thomas family made my parents and me feel so welcomed. I loved Aunt Shirleen so much. ❤️💐 Sincerely, Denise Pederson

My first neighbor I consciously knew on Caravel Drive in Bear De. We moved in 1985, and could not have been welcomed more. I was 5 years old, my brother 3 at the time. Dare i say we were the ones responsible for breaking some of Mrs Thomas swimming pool fence lining, as we simply didnt know better. I still hear the sound of that chain link fence in my mind sometimes. Haha. Great neighbors and friends, and Im proud to say our family still has ties to the Thomas family, with most of us in Sussex County. God Bless Mrs. Thomas

I was so sorry to read of Shirleen’s passing in today’s paper. She was a faithful volunteer in my kindergarten classroom in Newark and the children loved having her visits every week. I also knew Shirleen at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. May God’s love comfort you and bring you peace. I plan to watch the service online.
